Linux comes from the UNIX family of operating systems and has proven to be a tremendously stable and versatile operating system, particularly as a network server.

LINUX ADMINISTRATION

  • Create, modify and use basic shell scripts
  • Manage print jobs and print/mail queues
  • Repair packages and scripts
  • Schedule jobs to execute in the future using “at” and “cron” daemons.

NETWORK SUPPORT SPECIALIST - N+

This program will certify that the successful candidate has skills in computer networking and can troubleshoot network related problems.

OBJECTIVES

Be able to:

  • Specify the main features of LANS, Ethernet, Token Ring, Wireless and  FDDI networking technologies
  • Identify the purpose, features and functions of network components:  Hubs, switches, bridges, routers etc.
  • Identify the purpose of network services such as DHCP/bootp, DNS, NAT/ICS, WINS and SNMP
  • Given a troubleshooting scenario, select the appropriate TCP/IP utilities from among for .e.gTracert.
  • Configure a client to connect to different servers e.g. UNIX/Linux, Macintosh etc.
  • Appreciate the relationship and functions of OSI Layers.

USER SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL - A+

USP equips you with practical skills to support computer users in medium to large organizations. You learn to set up and operate a help desk and support end users on software problems, including unfamiliar software. USP also skills you to troubleshoot basic hardware and peripheral problems and judge when to pass on serious problems to vendors or the maintenance department.

USP WILL ENABLE YOU TO:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of fundamental concepts and architecture of a PC and it maintenance
  • Effectively support and troubleshoot PC hardware, software and peripherals
  • Upgrade memory chips, hard drives, and network cards
  • Troubleshoot errors relating to memory, disk access, viruses and PC hanging up
  • Install, configure, customize and troubleshoot common operating  systems

COMPTIA SECURITY +

Equips students with knowledge and skills to begin supporting network security within an organization. On completion students will be able to identify security threats and vulnerabilities and help respond to and recover from security incidents.

BENEFITS

Covers security concepts that are pre-requisite for attending other Microsoft Office Curriculum (MOC) courses for security specialists. Students are prepared for the CompTIA Security+ exam which is an elective in MCSA exam.
